Samson Mow predicts 'rapid' adoption of Bitcoin by governments
Government adoption of Bitcoin will soon enter a “surprise” phase, said Samson Mow, founder of Jan3. He predicted the transition from gradual accumulation to mass adoption will occur rapidly.
More and more countries are preparing to accelerate Bitcoin adoption after overcoming initial skepticism. “I think we're at the end of the gradual phase and the beginning of the rapid phase,” Moe told Danny Knowles on the What Bitcoin Did podcast, published on YouTube.
“It's happening very quickly,” Mow noted, referring to the desire of many countries to implement and use the Strategic Bitcoin Reserve. He believes it's only a matter of time before massive growth and panic among countries over missed opportunities begins.
Mow emphasized that although US President Donald Trump signed an executive order establishing the Bitcoin Strategic Reserve, the US has not yet begun buying. However, he noted that the US is “moving forward.”
Alex Thorn, head of research at Galaxy Digital, recently stated that there is a high probability that the US government will form the long-awaited Bitcoin Strategic Reserve by the end of this year.
While the US still leads all governments in total Bitcoin holdings, Mow told Cointelegraph Magazine in June that the US “should start” acquiring Bitcoin this year. “The risk is that Pakistan could overtake the US,” he explained. At the time of publication, the US government holds 198,012 Bitcoin, according to Bitbo.
Latin America in Focus
Mou has high hopes for Latin American countries, which he considers one of the most promising destinations.
Government adoption of Bitcoin has become a widely discussed topic in the crypto industry this year. Fidelity Digital Assets, in a January research paper, stated that it expects “more nation-states, central banks, sovereign wealth funds, and government treasuries to seek strategic positions in Bitcoin.”
Mow noted that Bitcoin's price hasn't developed the way many market participants expected it would in 2025. “We should have had a bull run by now, a massive run,” he said. “So I think this cycle, if you want to call it a cycle, is delayed; it could carry over into next year.”
