Bitcoin Gold Rush: Strategy Buys 220 BTC for $27 Million

“Buy when the cannons thunder” – Warren Buffett has been following this old stock market wisdom for many decades, and now the infamous (Micro-)Strategy founder and Bitcoin permabull Michael Saylor is also using it.
In a new X-post, the US entrepreneur announces that his company has acquired 220 BTC for over $27.2 million. Strategy's latest purchase averages $123,561 per Bitcoin—a discount of just a few percent compared to the all-time high.

As the world's largest corporate Bitcoin holder, the former software company now owns 640,250 BTC with a total value of over $73 billion. By comparison, El Salvador, long known as a Bitcoin pioneer, has to make do with 6,347 BTC.
For the current year, 2025, Saylor also announced a BTC yield of 25.9 percent. This is the ratio of Bitcoin held by Strategy to the number of MSTR shares issued. Each shareholder now indirectly holds 25.9 percent more BTC.
As usual, Saylor posted his BTC tracker over the weekend before announcing the purchase. The dedicated Bitcoin maximalist wrote: “Don't Stop ₿elievin'”
In the next few years, he and Strategy aim to control an entire Nakamoto (1,000,000 BTC). If his ambitious Bitcoin price prediction proves correct, MSTR could become the world's most valuable company by 2045.
Meanwhile, MSTR shares are trading at $305 premarket, down 16 percent from the previous week. The widespread correction in the crypto market also affected the share prices of Bitcoin treasury firms.
