Cryptonow receives MiCA license: Crypto company on the verge of EU expansion

  • The Austrian Financial Market Authority (FMA) has granted the Swiss crypto platform Cryptonow authorization as a Crypto Asset Service Provider (CASP) under the European Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCA). This allows the company to offer regulated crypto services throughout the EU.
  • Cryptonow is one of several international companies, along with Bitpanda and Bybit, to apply for their MiCA license in Austria. Bybit received its MiCA license in May and opened its EU headquarters in Vienna shortly thereafter. KuCoin also relocated its European headquarters to Vienna this year.
  • Founded in 2017, Cryptonow is best known for its crypto voucher cards, which are designed to simplify the acquisition of digital assets for customers. Following a restructuring in 2023, the company began its expansion into Europe.
  • With the new license, Cryptonow aims to further expand its presence in the European market. According to the company, it works with over 150 partners and plans to expand its network to 30 additional countries.
