Another mining farm found in Dagestan

Representatives of the company “Dagenergo” together with employees of the security department of the company “Rosseti North Caucasus”, as well as the department of economic security and anti-corruption of the Ministry of Internal Affairs discovered a mining farm in the Babayurtovsky district of Dagestan. Mining is prohibited in the republic and any farm is considered illegal.

Specialists from the Rosseti North Caucasus branch reported that a resident of the village of Babayurt was engaged in cryptocurrency mining; 35 devices were found in his private home.

Dagenergo employees recorded unmetered electricity consumption in the amount of 249,000 kWh. The equipment was seized, and materials are being prepared to resolve the issue of what to do with the owner of the mining farm.

The Russian government has approved a complete ban on digital asset mining in almost all regions of the Caucasus — Dagestan, Ingushetia, Kabardino-Balkaria, North Ossetia, Chechnya, and Karachay-Cherkessia. The restrictions are in effect until March 15, 2031.

Earlier, the company Rosseti North Caucasus reported that two illegal mining farms were discovered in private homes in the village of Levashi in the Levashinsky District of Dagestan.
