KuCoin Exchange Announces Launch of Its Mining Pool

The KuCoin exchange has launched the KuPool mining pool. The platform announced that Chris Zhu, co-founder of BTC.com (later renamed Clover Pool) and Poolin, is heading the project, according to RBC Crypto.

KuPool currently supports mining cryptocurrencies using the Scrypt algorithm. These include Litecoin (LTC), Dogecoin (DOGE), Bellscoin (BELLS), Pepe (PEPE), and Luckycoin (LKY). Support for Bitcoin mining (SHA-256 algorithm) is promised to be added soon.

The announcement emphasizes that KuPool is integrated with the KuMining cloud mining platform and the KuCoin exchange. The combination of the three products creates a comprehensive, closed-loop ecosystem encompassing hashrate generation, mining, and asset management, according to the press release.

KuPool uses multi-layered encryption, real-time monitoring, and strict operational security measures, according to the project's team. The platform also claims that the distribution of profits among pool participants is traceable.

“KuPool has adopted the technical and professional advantages of traditional mining pools and transformed the industry's structure, making it more transparent and financially focused. We leverage the KuCoin global ecosystem and our years of experience to provide users with a reliable income,” said Chris Zhu.

KuCoin isn't the first crypto exchange to integrate a mining pool into its ecosystem. One of the largest pools, ViaBTC, is integrated with CoinEx, and Binance also has its own cryptocurrency mining service, Binance Pool.

OKX previously had a mining pool. In early 2024, the exchange announced its closure, citing “business adjustments” as the reason for the decision.
