Trump plans to offer crypto betting on Truth Social

The Trump Media and Technology Group plans to allow betting on real-world events on its Truth Social platform. The US president's media company announced this in a press release.
As part of an exclusive partnership with Crypto.com, Truth Social plans to integrate so-called prediction markets into its platform. Users will be able to use “Truth Predict” – the name of the feature – to bet on the outcome of events such as US elections, interest rate decisions, inflation data, commodity prices, or sports results.
The North American branch of Crypto.com handles the transactions, having obtained a CFTC license specifically for this purpose.
The betting odds should be displayed on the platform in real time.
Users of Truth Social and the streaming service Truth+ will soon be able to convert the platform's in-platform currency, Truth Gems, earned through interactions, into the cryptocurrency Cronos (CRO). These tokens can then be used to purchase Truth Predict contracts.
In August, Trump's media company also announced a new token; whether it can be used for betting is still unclear.
Truth Social will now directly compete with other popular prediction markets like Polymarket and Kalshi. These crypto-based betting platforms have generally experienced strong growth this year. According to data from The Block, over 33,000 new bets were opened on Polymarket in September alone – a record high.
How Truth Social will fare in this race remains to be seen. The company certainly has the financial resources. According to company statements, it has three billion US dollars in funding and recently generated positive operating cash flows.
