Over 25,000 Bitcoin: Metaplanet now fifth-largest BTC hodler
- Metaplanet, a company listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, announced today, September 22, the acquisition of 5,419 Bitcoin worth approximately $632.53 million.
- According to the company, the purchase was made at an average price of $116,724 or 17.28 million yen per BTC.

- This brings Metaplanet's total holdings to 25,555 Bitcoin. At an average acquisition price of $106,065, this corresponds to a market value of approximately $2.91 billion.
- With this increase, Metaplanet moves into the top group of listed BTC investors and now ranks fifth among the largest company holders.
- According to data from Bitcoin Treasuries, the company is ahead of the Peter Thiel-funded trading platform Bullish and behind Strategy, Marathon Digital, XXI and the Bitcoin Standard Treasury Company.
- “Please note that this purchase represents only the first tranche,” explained Dylan LeClair, director of Bitcoin strategy at Metaplanet, on X.
- The stock has fallen by 2.4 percent in the last 24 hours, but has risen by 82 percent since the beginning of the year.
