Bitcoin-only app Relai receives MiCA license

The Swiss Bitcoin startup Relai has become one of the first Bitcoin-only companies to receive the MiCA license from the French financial regulator AMF. BTC-ECHO has learned this exclusively in advance. This allows the app to offer regulated crypto services throughout the EU – an important milestone for Bitcoin adoption in Europe.
The license allows Relai to expand its offerings to EU users and introduce new features such as instant SEPA payments, higher trading limits, and greater fee transparency. Relai also plans to launch educational initiatives and events in various EU countries to further expand its presence.
CEO Julian Liniger called the approval a “breakthrough for Bitcoin in Europe.” With over 500,000 downloads and a trading volume of over one billion US dollars, Relai is considered one of Europe's leading Bitcoin service providers.
The app allows you to invest via a savings plan – a strategy that is particularly suitable for long-term investors.
The MiCA license marks not only a regulatory success but also a strategic step for the Bitcoin-only model, which relies on self-custody and decentralization – an approach that increasingly contrasts with centralized exchanges.
The neobank Revolut also received a MiCA license the day before, thus further expanding its crypto strategy.
