V-Bank: First German depository bank receives MiCAR license
- V-Bank is the first pure custodian bank in Germany to receive an EU-wide MiCAR license. The approval from BaFin allows the Munich-based institution not only to hold cryptocurrencies and tokenized securities but also to trade them in a regulated manner across the EU. This places V-Bank among an exclusive group of only 58 licensed financial service providers in the European Economic Area.
- “The MiCAR license is an important foundation for the next stage of digital financial services. We are very proud to be among the first on the market. This gives our business partners the opportunity to offer their customers secure and legally compliant custody of digital assets,” said Stefan Lettmeier, CEO of V-Bank.
- The MiCAR regulation is considered a milestone for the European crypto market. It creates uniform standards for digital assets for the first time. The Swiss company Cryptonow recently received a MiCAR license.
