The Russian Ministry of Energy: There will be no new restrictions on mining in Russia.
The Russian Ministry of Energy does not expect new restrictions on cryptocurrency mining, said Andrey Maksimov, Director of the Ministry's Department of Electric Power Development.
During his speech at the annual professional conference of the Energy Producers Council association, Maksimov emphasized that the ministry has not yet received any requests from governors to restrict digital asset mining.
“There's no reason. Everything's fine. Since there are no shortages, there's no reason. Our energy system is generally working well,” the official explained.
He recalled that the possibility of banning mining is considered only in the event of a request from regional authorities.
Since the beginning of the year, the Russian government has banned digital asset mining in several energy-deficit regions, including the republics of the North Caucasus, Buryatia, and Transbaikalia, as well as the southern part of the Irkutsk region.
Earlier, Energy Minister Sergei Tsivilev stated at the Eastern Economic Forum that bans on digital asset mining, introduced in a number of regions, had a positive impact on the national energy system.
