Bitcoin: Germany overlooks 45,000 BTC from Movie2K case?

  • According to a new analysis by Arkham Intelligence, German authorities may have lost around 45,000 Bitcoin linked to the notorious piracy platform Movie2K. The stockpile would be worth approximately $5 billion today.

BREAKING: ARKHAM IDENTIFIES $5B BTC THAT THE GERMAN GOVERNMENT FAILED TO SEIZE

  • Last year, the Saxony State Office of Criminal Investigation seized 50,000 Bitcoin from two suspected Movie2K operators, the largest crypto seizure in German criminal history. These coins were later sold for an average of $58,000, which is considered unfortunate given the current Bitcoin price.
  • Arkham now claims to have found evidence of another, previously untouched Bitcoin stash, spread across around 100 wallets. Whether investigators haven't discovered it or don't have access to it remains unclear.
  • The Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA) monitored the seized Movie2K coins, while the Dresden Public Prosecutor's Office, as the responsible authority, decided on their disposal. Some of the Bitcoins moved at the time are said to have been transferred to exchange wallets such as Kraken or Coinbase.
  • If the analysis is confirmed, the alleged operators of Movie2K could still have access to one of the largest private Bitcoin reserves in the world. A fact that raises new questions about the work of the investigative authorities.
