Economist Peter Schiff Turns Out to Be Bitcoin's Biggest Hater
Gold fanatic economist Peter Schiff has been hailed as Bitcoin's worst critic, constantly predicting a sad end for the cryptocurrency.
The rating of BTC haters was compiled taking into account the number of predictions for the death of the cryptocurrency made by famous people. Depending on this indicator, the top three included:
- Peter Schiff.
- Famous investor Warren Buffett.
- Economics professor Steve Hanke.
Top 3 Bitcoin Critics
Schiff, who has incorrectly predicted the digital asset's death 18 times, said in April 2025:
Bitcoin was a child of the 2008 financial crisis. Ironically, the 2025 financial crisis will kill it .
After Peter made this gloomy forecast, BTC rose by 57%, and on August 13, the cryptocurrency rate updated its historical maximum at $124,517. Taking into account this and other false predictions of Schiff, most people stopped taking his words about the future of Bitcoin seriously.
Notably, Schiff was far from the only person predicting BTC’s imminent demise in 2025. Others who shared this view included reporter Elizabeth Lopatto, programmer Jack Dorsey, and financier Frank Giustra. Philosopher Peter Boghossian was the latest to predict Bitcoin’s demise, writing on July 10, 2025, “Bitcoin will crash to zero within the next five to eight years.”
