Pierre Rochard: Ethereum Has No Chance to Overtake Bitcoin

image Pierre Rochard, CEO of Bitcoin Bond Company, curator of the CatholicBitcoin project and host of the Bitcoin for Corporations podcast, said that Ethereum's capitalization has no chance of overtaking Bitcoin's capitalization.

According to Roshar, supporters of the second-largest cryptocurrency by capitalization believe that a 51% attack on Bitcoin in the future could provoke a decline in confidence in the first cryptocurrency and stimulate the transfer of capital to Ether.

However, the head of the Bitcoin Bond Company believes that the hopes of ETH optimists for the collapse of Bitcoin are unrealistic and do not take into account the mechanisms for protecting the Bitcoin network:

  • Replace-by-Fee (RBF) – the ability to replace a transaction with a version with a higher fee, increasing the cost of a potential attack;

  • Child-Pays-For-Parent (CPFP) is a mechanism that allows subsequent transactions to pay for confirmation of previous ones and speed up their inclusion in a block.

Built-in mechanisms will allow the network to remain stable even with a decrease in rewards for miners and the emergence of quantum technologies, Roshar believes. The worst-case scenario for the first cryptocurrency will remain just a topic of discussion in the community and will not be implemented in practice, the top manager of Bitcoin Bond Company is convinced.

Pierre Rochard previously questioned whether the emerging asset tokenization market would create favorable conditions for the mass use of Ether and XRP for payments.
