Crypto venture capital is booming: 2025 is on a record course
- Crypto fundraising is approaching record levels in 2025. Over $16 billion has already been raised, more than in all of 2024. And the industry is on track to surpass the record year of 2021 ($29.17 billion). From January to July 2025, 76 deals valued at $6.23 billion, 3.6 times the previous year's volume, were already on pace for around 130 transactions.
- In addition to record-breaking fundraising and M&A activity, successful IPOs are boosting confidence in the industry. Circle, for example, raised approximately $1.1 billion in its IPO in June 2025, achieving a valuation of approximately $6 billion. The share price climbed to three times the issue price at times during the first few days of trading—a strong signal of demand from institutional investors.
- Bullish also impressed: The Peter Thiel-backed company also raised $1.1 billion in its IPO, at a valuation of approximately $5.4 billion. The share price shot up 83 percent to $68 on its first day of trading. Other candidates, such as Figure and BitGo, are already in the starting blocks and could further fuel the IPO wave.
- Crypto VC Paul Veradittakit sees this as a clear signal of long-term industry development. He told Blockworks: “The momentum in 2025 is less the result of pent-up demand, but rather a sign of the industry's natural maturation.” According to Dragonfly Capital, top executives from the payments industry are also increasingly flocking to the stablecoin sector—an indication of rising professionalism.
- Despite initial signs of declining risk appetite, leading investors see no cause for concern. While the coming months may see a slight slowdown, optimism prevails in the medium to long term. Many market observers expect a new wave of innovative founders by the end of the year, and especially in 2026, who are likely to bring additional momentum to the industry with fresh ideas and professional backgrounds.
