Bitcoin (BTC) Average Hashrate Jumps to 1 ZH/s for the First Time

Today, July 26, 2025, the Bitcoin (BTC) network recorded another change in mining difficulty. Although this process occurs every week, and the speed of adjustment is insignificant today, this time the oldest blockchain set three records at once.

Bitcoin (BTC) Hashrate Reaches Historic Level: 1 ZH/S

Bitcoin (BTC), the leading cryptocurrency by market cap, underwent another mining difficulty adjustment today. According to data from Clover (formerly BTC.com), at block 907,200, Bitcoin (BTC) mining difficulty increased by 1.07%, reaching 127.62 trillion. While this is the smallest increase in more than half a year, it set three records for the Bitcoin (BTC) network.

Firstly, its average hashrate is now over 1,000 ZH/s. This means that for the first time in history, Bitcoin’s (BTC) average hashrate has reached 1.05 ZH/s.

As such, Bitcoin (BTC) miners are now generating over a sextillion hashes per second, which is equivalent to 1 followed by 21 zeros. The competition to add the next block to the network has become more intense than ever.

In addition, the Bitcoin (BTC) network difficulty has reached a previously unseen 127.62 terahetrons. The significant increase in difficulty and hashrate clearly demonstrates the optimism of miners. Both indicators can only increase as more computers connect to the network and participate in block validation.

Last but not least, Bitcoin (BTC) block time has dropped to an impressive 8 minutes 42 seconds, 13% faster than the usual 10-minute estimates.

Bitcoin (BTC) Mining Difficulty Increases 30% in a Year

Moreover, the next difficulty adjustment, expected in 13 days, will also be small but positive.

Over the past 12 months, Bitcoin (BTC) difficulty has increased by nearly 30%, while the average Bitcoin (BTC) hashrate has grown by 70%.

Weekly difficulty changes are necessary to ensure a stable and predictable block production process on the network.

The price of Bitcoin (BTC) today was $118,500 amid moderate optimism among traders. BTC rose by 0.5% today despite the overall decline in the crypto segment capitalization.
