946 Exahash – Miners Take Bitcoin to New Computational Heights Despite Falling Salaries
At block height 901,152 on Friday, the Bitcoin network recorded its 12th difficulty adjustment this year, which dropped by a small 0.45%, reducing the difficulty level to 126.41 trillion. On Saturday, the following day, miners increased the network's computing power, setting a new record that surpassed the previous high recorded last month.
Difficulty is falling, hashrate is growing, but miners are still under pressure
On June 14, 2025, Bitcoin's hashrate reached a new all-time high, peaking at 946 exahashes per second (EH/s) based on a seven-day simple moving average (SMA). The previous all-time high (ATH) was set on May 31, when the network reached 943 EH/s. As of 8 a.m. ET on Saturday, the hashrate was 944.84 EH/s.

This latest ATH came immediately after a small difficulty adjustment of 0.45%, which brought the difficulty down from 126.98 trillion to 126.41 trillion. While this change provided some relief, the difficulty remains high — which continues to put significant pressure on miners. The next recalibration is expected around June 29, 2025. Of the 12 difficulty changes this year, eight were increases and four were decreases.
At the same time, mining revenue has declined compared to levels seen 30 days ago, with the hash price falling from a daily yield of $55.53 per petahash per second (PH/s) on May 14 to a current $52.92 per PH/s. Over the past 24 hours, miners have earned an average of 3.17 BTC from both block subsidies and transaction fees, with fees accounting for just 1.32% of total revenue.
Block times are currently lagging behind the ideal 10-minute average, and the next difficulty adjustment, scheduled for June 29, is expected to drop by about 7.74%. This figure is, of course, subject to change and is likely to change significantly by the time the adjustments are implemented. Especially if the hash rate remains high and block performance begins to increase.
