NVIDIA has figured out how to prohibit mining on GeForce RTX 3080 Ti

NVIDIA has made new changes to its GeForce RTX 3080 Ti graphics cards to combat cryptocurrency mining. It is reported by Hardware Times.

It is reported that the production of new GPUs has already begun. According to preliminary information, NVIDIA has completely changed the processor for the RTX 3080 Ti, limiting the efficiency of cryptocurrency mining.

Recall, previously the restrictions on mining could be bypassed by installing old firmware. This time, however, the firmware does not help get around the restrictions because of the new chip. When exactly the graphics cards with the updated chip will be on sale remains unknown.

Mining in a shortage
Previously, NVIDIA said that the shortage of graphics cards could continue until the end of 2021. However, it seems that miners have found a new way to mine cryptocurrency.

For example, retail miners in China have switched to a new type of cryptocurrency mining. It doesn’t require ASICs or video cards. Instead, cryptocurrency farming is done using SSD disks.

That said, the community admits that the new pharming is bad for SSDs. The excessive number of operations for farming can severely affect the life of the hard drive.

Meanwhile, NVIDIA seems to be working on a new “mining monster”. According to preliminary information, the price of the new product could be $3000.
