GoMining's Bitcoin mining game Miner Wars updated its features on Tuesday, introducing newbie-friendly “welcome packages” and a “clan league” option for competitive users, increasing GameFi's real-world Bitcoin mining capabilities.

GoMining reports that since the launch of Miner Wars in September, the company has attracted over 165,000 active players and paid out over 144 BTC (which is equivalent to over $13 million at the current rate).

GoMining CEO Mark Zalan said in a statement: “Situated at the intersection of digital mining and GameFi, Miner Wars has found a comfortable niche with a loyal and stable audience.” He added that the new features will lead to “a new level of user engagement.”

The game gives users access to GoMining’s real-world bitcoin mining infrastructure via cross-chain “miner” NFTs that represent real-world shares of computing power from the company’s mining centers. The digital miners have been released on Solana, Ethereum, BNB Chain, and The Open Network (TON) platforms and can be traded on GoMining’s marketplace or on third-party platforms like Magic Eden.

By purchasing miner NFTs, users are essentially joining a mining pool and receiving proportional rewards when the pool successfully mines a Bitcoin block. Users can then upgrade their NFTs, which can increase their chances of receiving Bitcoin rewards in the process.

NFT digital miners also serve to participate in Miner Wars, adding performance improvements and multipliers while offering higher rewards than standard mining payouts. The game runs about 120-150 rounds daily, offering roughly 1 Bitcoin in prizes along with rewards in the form of GOMINING, the company’s Ethereum-based token.

By joining the game, users use the computing power of their NFT mining, expressed in terahashes, to compete with other players by uniting into clans or groups.

In today's update, clans are now grouped into leagues to increase the level of competition, with weekly promotions and relegations based on performance. Clans can be placed into lower leagues, such as the Dune League, which is designed for newcomers, or promoted to the Odyssey League, which offers larger prizes but is aimed at more experienced and “elite” Miner Wars players.

The company is also adding welcome packages with free bonuses to help users “get familiar with the Miner Wars interface and mechanics,” GoMining content marketing manager Laila Effiong told Decrypt .

While mining, or the process of securing and verifying blocks on Bitcoin’s proof-of-work (PoW) blockchain, is a technically complex and energy-intensive process, GoMining aims to simplify it and educate more cryptocurrency users. The company claims to have more than 3.5 million users worldwide, and its data centers boast 7.5 million terahashes of computing power.

“Mining is a complex process, and we cannot underestimate it,” Effiong said, highlighting the challenges of maintaining GoMining’s global mining operations. “But GoMining’s end users should not feel any pressure.”
