Rumble and Tether Launch Bitcoin Donations

Popular video platform Rumble is preparing to launch Bitcoin donations for its more than 51 million monthly active users. CEO Chris Pavlovski announced the news at the Plan ₿ forum in Lugano, Switzerland.

Partnership with Tether

Rumble has teamed up with stablecoin issuer Tether to implement a Bitcoin donation feature. Pavlovsky explained, “We're currently in the testing phase, but plan to begin rolling it out with Tether in the coming weeks.”

Also on stage was Tether CEO Paolo Ardoino, who expects a full launch by early to mid-December after minor bugs are ironed out and the user interface is polished.

The Rumble team posted a video on social media X showing the first donations sent to the platform's content creator and former Canadian politician David Freiheit.

Potential for mass adoption of Bitcoin payments

Integration could play a key role in advancing Bitcoin payments thanks to Rumble's large audience and the platform's stance on censorship, which resonates with the Bitcoin community. While institutional adoption is fueling the current bull market, Bitcoin's use as a payment method remains elusive.

Bitcoin staunch supporter and Blockchain CEO Jack Dorsey has warned that without widespread adoption in everyday payments, Bitcoin will fail to fulfill its purpose as the peer-to-peer electronic cash system envisioned by its creator, Satoshi Nakamoto.

Global Opportunities for Content Creators

Given that video content is primarily published online, Rumble could become a natural environment for Bitcoin payments to thrive, Ardoino noted. “Bitcoin and stablecoins can serve not only the segment of the population that holds Tether dear—people in developing countries—but also stable economies like the US,” he said. “We can find use cases for Bitcoin and stablecoins that truly empower content creators and give them confidence that they won't be deprived of banking services for speaking out.”

Rumble's Cryptocurrency Initiatives

Tether invested $775 million in the video platform Rumble last December. The YouTube competitor is also working with crypto payments company MoonPay to provide users with crypto wallets, which should make it easier for content creators to receive Bitcoin donations.

In March, Rumble also began buying Bitcoin, accumulating 210.8 Bitcoin worth $23.4 million to date, according to BitcoinTreasuries.NET.
