Coinbase integration enables crypto purchases in Samsung Wallet

South Korean technology giant Samsung has expanded its partnership with the US crypto exchange Coinbase. Effective immediately, approximately 75 million Galaxy users in the United States can now purchase cryptocurrencies directly through the Samsung Wallet. Coinbase announced the new feature yesterday, October 3rd.
As part of the partnership, Galaxy customers will receive free access to “Coinbase One,” a subscription service that offers fee-free trading, increased staking rewards, and protection against unauthorized account access.
Coinbase manager Shan Aggarwal said: “Together with Samsung, we are combining their global reach with our trusted platform to make crypto easier for people to access – initially for more than 75 million Galaxy users in the US and soon worldwide.”
The feature is also expected to be rolled out internationally in the future. According to industry data from BankMyCell, Samsung currently holds a market share of around 13 percent of the world's 7.4 billion smartphone users with its Galaxy devices.

Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong emphasized at X that the collaboration will make “crypto even more accessible.” The wallet app will enable not only crypto purchases, but also mobile payments, peer-to-peer transactions, and access to digital identity services.
