World Financial Liberty: Trump token now officially tradable
- Long announced, now launched: The World Liberty Financial (WLFI) token is now trading on several major crypto exchanges. It is also unofficially referred to as the “Trump Coin.”
- Investors can buy WLFI on the following exchanges: Binance, Bithump, OKX, Bybit, Bitget, and Kraken.
- There are numerous documented connections between World Liberty Financial (WLFI) and the Trump family. A corporate entity linked to the Trump family controls approximately 60 percent of the shares in WLFI and its parent company, WLF Holdco. Eric Trump officially serves on the board of directors. Donald Trump himself has promoted the token on social media.
- World Liberty Financial (WLFI) is a crypto project designed to function like a bank in the blockchain world. It combines DeFi (decentralized finance) with its own cryptocurrency (WLFI token) and a stablecoin called USD1.
- A total of approximately 25 billion tokens were issued in the World Liberty Financial (WLFI) token sale, representing 25 percent of the total supply. In the first round in October 2024, 20 billion WLFI were sold at a price of $0.015 per token, raising approximately $300 million.
- A second tranche of 5 billion tokens followed in January 2025 at a significantly higher price of $0.05, raising another approximately $250 million. This brought the total sales proceeds to approximately $550 to $590 million, with almost the entire offering volume—approximately 96 percent—being placed.
- Given WLFI's close ties to the Trump family, ethical concerns have been raised, including conflicts of interest, lack of transparency, and political influence. The U.S. Senate has already addressed requests for the project, but these have so far been rejected.
- The Trump memecoin, launched in January 2025, impressively demonstrated how dangerous politically charged crypto projects can be for investors. Driven by the “Trump” brand, the token experienced enormous price jumps, attracting speculators in particular. However, the euphoria was generally short-lived: Many investors bought at the peak and subsequently suffered massive losses as the price plummeted.
