Tokyo-based Metaplanet is creating a strategic advisory board that will include Eric Trump as a member as the firm continues to promote the adoption of Bitcoin (BTC), according to a press release issued Friday.

“We are honored to welcome Eric Trump as the first member of our Strategic Advisory Council, and we look forward to his participation at our annual meeting,” Simon Gerovich, CEO of Metaplanet Inc., said in a press release.

“His business acumen, passion for the Bitcoin community, and global openness will be invaluable in accelerating Metaplanet’s vision of becoming one of the world’s leading Bitcoin treasury asset management companies.”

The new council will include influential people, speakers and thought leaders, although Metaplanet is not disclosing their names.

Trump, the son of President Donald Trump, has become a prominent figure in recent months, largely due to his ties to World Liberty Financial, the Trump family's cryptocurrency business founded in September 2024. He has since openly supported Bitcoin and Ethereum (ETH) investments on the X platform.

As of Friday, Metaplanet holds over 3,200 BTC after its last reported purchase on March 18, when they purchased an additional 150 BTC for around 1.8 billion yen (about $12.5 million at the time).
