Glen Abbey Golf Club, a creation of Jack Nicklaus that debuted in 1976, stands as one of Canada’s most distinguished golf destinations. It has been the venue for the Canadian Open on numerous occasions and is celebrated for its championship-caliber design and its significant role in professional golf history. Situated about 30 minutes west of Toronto, the course operates as a public golfing facility with a rich heritage in Canadian athletics.
The Bitcoin Open features a daytime golf tournament played in a scramble format on the primary championship course, succeeded by a Texas Hold’em poker tournament in the evening. The golf segment employs a team scramble format, typically involving foursomes. The number of participants is capped, and organizers have indicated robust interest, with a limited number of team slots remaining as of mid-May 2026.
Awards for the competition include two distinct hole-in-one prizes, each valued at one Bitcoin. Additional golf accolades will be presented for the longest drive and closest to the pin. Golf champions will also be granted entry into the 2027 Bitcoin Golf Championship, scheduled to be held in Nashville, Tennessee, preceding the 2027 Bitcoin Conference. The champion of the poker tournament will receive $5,000 CAD in stablecoins.
A roster of hole sponsors for the event has been made public. These entities comprise APX Lending, Tetra Digital Group, The Canadian Bitcoin Conference, Satstreet, True North Airways, Ledn, Gator Mining Inc., Wealthsimple, CAD DIGITAL, PRIVATEDEBT Partners, McCarthy Tetrault, and Samara Asset Group.
Bitcoin Sports Network functions as an orchestrator of sports and lifestyle events centered around Bitcoin, including golf tournaments that align with major Bitcoin conferences. Satstreet, a Canadian entity focused on Bitcoin, is a co-host of this event and also a hole sponsor. The two organizations are collaborating on this Canadian iteration of The Bitcoin Open.
