A lawyer in Argentina has filed a request for an international arrest warrant for Hayden Davis, the founder of the memocoin LIBRA, Buenos Aires newspaper Pagina 12 reported on Thursday.

According to the report, attorney Gregorio Dalbon raised the issue of procedural risk associated with the fact that US citizen Davis could remain at large and his financial resources would allow him to hide.

In this regard, the lawyer appealed to the Argentine courts with a request for “the international arrest of Davis and the issuance of an Interpol red notice for the purpose of his detection and arrest for extradition.”

The meme coin LIBRA reached a market cap of $4.4 billion before falling more than 95% last month. It was supported by Argentine President Javier Miley in a now-deleted tweet.

The president later backed down from his offer to promote LIBRA, saying he was unaware of the details of the project and that he “decided not to continue the information campaign” once he learned about it.

The LIBRA collapse resulted in $251 million in losses for investors, according to Nansen research.
